Girl 1: Recently I happened to see an article about Guru Guru Parampara can anyone of you tellme what it is, I know about Guru Shishya Parampara but not this
Girl 2: I will tell you it is a Guru moulding his own disciple into another Guru we are very fortunate because in our country we have many such great souls .
Girl 3: We may consider Sri Ramakrishna and Sri Vivekananda as one such example.
Girl 1: I don’t know much about Sri Ramakrishna and Vivekananda can you please elaborate in detail.
Girl 4: Yes, Sri Ramakrishna trained several boys spiritually and Narendra Nath became popular as a leader whose teachings the whole world knows.
Girl 6: Narendra Nath ! Who is he ?
Girl 4: Narendranath is the name given to Swami Vivekananda by his parents . Since his childhood he was truthful and fearless. Having studied in Christian Missionary schools, having attended Brahmo Samaj classes he was confused about the existence of God. He went on asking the people whether God exists or not, if He does has anyone seen Him . As days were passing on young Naren became restless and spent even sleepless nights about this question.
Girl: 5: He became restless just because he wanted to know about God ?
Girl: 3: Yes, for such people truth is more important than anything else. Guided by his professor he went to Dakshineswar the place where Sri Ramakrishna lived. To this question of Narendra Nath Sri Ramakrishna’s answer was a firm,” yes I see Him as clearly as I see you”.
Girl 5: Oh really that is great, what happened then?
Girl 4: Young Naren was convinced with the confidence and firmness of Sri Ramakrishna’s words. After having observed him for several days and having found him to be pure and truthful , he accepted him as his Guru.
Girl 3: One interesting event I would like to narrate here about Narendra Nath. when his father passed away the entire responsibility of his family fell on his young shoulders . After having tried for several months for a job Naren finally approached his master and requested him to seek help the of Kali Mata for a job.
Girl 5: Good decision, that will really help him because everyday Sri Ramakrishna talks to the mother.
Girl 3: But the master did not agree, he said, ” I cannot ask the mother for worldly benefits. You may go to mother and ask her yourself ” .Narendra went into the temple. He stood all alone in front of the image of the mother and prayed to Her. At once he found mother to be live and conscious, the perennial fountain of divine love and beauty. In an ecstasy of joy Naren said, ” Mother give me renunciation, give me knowledge and devotion . Divine mother smiled and said, ‘ Granted my son”.
Three times Naren went to the mother , but all the three times he failed to ask mother for materialistic wants. At this Sri Ramakrishna said,” Naren ,you are not born to lead an ordinary life The purpose of your life is different. you are born to drive away ignorance from the world. ”
Girl1: Very interesting
Girl 4: After the master had gone into Maha Samadhi Naren renounced the world and became Swami Vivekananda. In 1893 the world parliament of religions was held in Chicago and all disciples of Sri Ramakrishna unanimously wanted Swami Vivekananda to represent India. Facing several obstacles and challenges Swamiji reached Chicago. When it was his turn to speak he addressed the gathering as,” Sisters and brothers of America”. For this great Monk there was no such discrimination as caste creed religion or region .His heart, over flowing with Universal Love he spoke these words and the crowd was highly touched with his words and gave a standing ovation. His speech was very brief which lasted only for 5 minutes but was so appealing that he was regarded as the hero of the day. India which was thought of as an uneducated and uncultured country by the entire world till then, got recognition as the most learned nation.
Girl 3: Do you know at the parliament in Chicago Swamiji ‘s speech is written on the steps. we can see it even today.
Girl 6: Truly it’s a matter of pride for all Indians. All of us are indebted to him.
Girl 5: Let us remember some of his quotations . Arise ! awake !! stop not till the goal is reached.
Girl 1: He alone lives who lives for others.
Girl 2 Each soul is potentially divine.
Girl 3: What a great gift Shri Ramakrishna bestowed to the world. He blessed us with a great guru . This is Guru Guru Parampara.
Girl 1: Now shall I will narrate to you another example of this Guru – Guru Parampara? It is about Sri Aurobindo Ghosh and Mirra Alfassa, the Mother.
Girl 3: Who are they ? Please do enlighten me.
Girl 1: Sri Arobindho Ghosh was a philosopher ,writer, freedom fighter and more than everything a great Yogi.
Girl: 5: A freedom fighter and also a philosopher !
Girl 2: Yes, his participation in the Indian freedom struggle gave him popularity and gradually he evolved to become a spiritual and and yogic Guru. He came up with a new path of spirituality, known as ‘integral yoga’. The main objective of his teachings is to spiritually transform life on earth.
Girl 6: Very interesting . You say he was a spiritual Guru, did he have any remarkable disciples ?
Girl 1: Yes he had many disciples but there was one woman who implemented all his teachings with full devotion and dedication
Girl 3: Who was she ?
Girl 1: You will be surprised to know that she was a French woman . She was born in Paris and her name was Mirra Alfassa. She was an accomplished artist, pianist and writer. Her primary interest was spiritual development. She would often see in her dreams and visions, a man guiding her in spirituality .
Girl4: Was the man Sri Aurobindo Ghosh? How did she meet him?
Girl 2: I am coming to that point. Mrs. Mirra came to India with her husband and children on a pilgrimage. While I she was travelling by a boat in the Indian ocean near Pondicherry she saw a bright light coming up from the Ashram she felt that it was a call for her from there and she visited the Ashram established by Shri. Aurobindo Ghosh.
Girl 5 : What happened next?
Girl 1: The minute she saw Sri Aurobindo Ghosh she recognised him to be the man who had appeared in her visions. At once she decided to spend rest of her life in his Ashram serving the people .She renounced her husband and her children detaching herself with all the wordly bonds.
Girl : 4 That is really amazing, What did Sri Aurobindo say?
Girl : 2 Sri Aurobindo was happy with her decision because this is what actually a Guru expects from his disciples– detachment, renunciation and total surrender to the will of Guru. When Sri Arabindho Ghosh’s Ashram was formed he entrusted its administrative and spiritual charge of the ashram to her. He named her the Mother. Under her guidance which continued for over 50 years the Ashram grew into a large many faceted spiritual community.
Girl 1 : Later she established Sri Aurobindo International centre of Education. She brought sand from all the countries and founded “Aurovile International centre ”
Girl 3: What does it mean?
Girl 1: It means it is a Universal centre promoting human unity with India as it’s centre.
Girl 6: Yes, because Bharath is a Punya bhumi, a Karma bhumi, and a Yoga bhumi.
Girl 2 : The two examples of Guru Guru Paramapara are unique in their presentation. While in one, an Indian monk went abroad and made the whole world recognise the Spiritual and cultural glory of India and in another example a foreigner came to India and helped many people to realise the hidden spiritual treasure of our holy land Bharath. Both of them are gifts given by two great gurus.
Girl 1: I need to recall an important incident here. After being in a meditative state for several days, Sri Aurobindo declared that Sri Krishna consciousness has descended in the world. This was on November 24th 1926 and it is relevant to note that Sri Satya Sai Baba was born on the previous day of this declaration.
Girl :3: Oh ! What a coincidence or should I say Sai incidence, I was just about to turn our collective gaze at Bhagwan Sri Satya Sai Baba and Sri Madhusudan Sai for the next episode of Guru – Guru Parampara.
Girl 1: Please do tell us in detail as we need to know all about them.
Girl 6: At the age of 14 Satya Sai Baba declared that he was the incarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba and he was renouncing all worldly ties to serve the world at large.
Girl 5: His life may be divided as three phases, the first being Chamthkar – the various massive service projects with the last being Satshathkar which is self realisation.
Girl 4: Can you elaborate for my benefit.
Girl 6: Sathya Sai Baba said that His miracles were his visiting cards and once people went for His Darshan they were transformed into better human beings. The next step was the transformed beings were active participants of His glorious mission.
Girl 4: What was his mission ?
Girl 6 : His Mission addressed the three basic needs of the people, Vidya, (education ), Vaidya (health care ) and Vari.
Girl 3: What is Vari?
Girl 5: It is providing drinking water facilities for remote areas where people had to walk long distances to get water for self substance. Rayalaseema, the drought prone district of Andhra pradesh was the first beneficiary location, followed by City of Chennai, parts of Telangana & the tribal areas of Godavari district.
Girl 3: I heard that many schools and colleges were established by Him.
Girl 6: Not only schools and colleges he founded a University in Puttaparthi where many young men and women had the opportunity to pursue their higher education. Our Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai was one such student of this university. It is from this Higher Learning Institute that he rose up in stature of a highly developed spiritual being to become our Sadguru.
Girl: 5: Yes, from among the many who received education at this University just one of them could reach to the level of Bhagawan Satya Sai Baba. (Sloka from Bhagawad Gita)
Girl 6: Sadguru continues to extend the very same work that His Guru Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai commenced on a wider spectrum. He has established several schools ,colleges and even a University at Gulbarga . He also founded many Super Speciality Hospitals. You know a unique medical college is in the making with completely free medical education the first of its kind in the whole world.
Girl 2: Close to our own campus, a speciality hospital is coming up with paediatric cardiac facility to cater to small children to present them with a gift of life. We are fortunate to be contemporaries to see all these wonderful happenings. We offer our gratitude whole heartedly to Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba for gifting us with this Sadguru to keep the Guru Guru Parampara flag in flying colours.
Girl2: Today we have had a great satsang by remembering three great examples of Guru Guru Parampara. Let us strive to follow their footsteps and attain the state of the Divine which is what is expected from all of us by our Guru.

Spiritual knowledge descends through the disciplic succession from Krishna. The representatives of the disciplic succession can not change anything, add anything or subtract anything. Otherwise the disciplic succession will be broken and their preaching will have no potency. Many times in the history this disciplic succession has been broken because the representatives of the disciplic succession did not correctly pass on the knowledge to their students.
