PARENT TEACHER MEETING ON AUGUST 15th
By the grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the first Parent-Teacher Association Meeting was held on Aug 15, 2018, precisely 2 days after the students had moved to their brand new campus, replete with fantastic facilities.
Being the 71st Independence Day of the country, the atmosphere was filled with cheer and gaiety. In the morning there was a Flag Hoisting ceremony with the traditional march past and cultural events. The afternoon was also a kind of reunion for parents and their children after several days of hostel life. Many children savored home cooked favorites after several days of time. As they say, absence makes the hearts grow stronger - it was evident in abundance that day.
For most parents and families, this was the first visit to the campus after the inauguration on June 1, 2018. The pace of change was phenomenal to say the least. The parents were taken around the classrooms, dormitory, other facilities within the campus. The pride swelling in the faces of parents was indeed a reflection of their gratefulness for having secured an admission for their child at Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam College, where the Divine compassion has brought education to their doorstep and for many of them, this indeed was a life changing development.
After the campus tour the first PTA meeting commenced with chanting of Sai Gayathri after the Lighting of the Lamp. Students of the college regaled the assembled audience with a melodious rendition of Vande Mataram and other patriotic songs. This was followed by a dance performance by the students to the tune of yet another patriotic song. The evening schedule was compered by Smt. Ratnam, the Principal of the College. Sri Pradeep and Smt. Aruna Pradeep addressed the gathering explaining the incredible journey that culminated with the commencement of the college operations. The parents were also sensitized to Swami's teachings on how to let go of Moha (attachments) in order to evolve spiritually for parents and students alike - a philosophy that is espoused by the Gurukula system of education. Many parents offered valuable insights and voluntary teaching that would go a long way in providing education with values to all the children.
The evening's program ended with chanting of Sai Gayathri.
